I have taught art for the past forty years. I have learned much from my students. Kids and their spontaneity have been the fabric of my life. I love how they explore their surroundings, how they boldly apply color, how they manipulate materials, and how they transform materials to find their own vision.
For the last ten years I have been exploring watercolors. My work is focused on my love of the outdoors and the beauty that surrounds me in Vermont. I have been opening up my style using bold color washes and playing with the negative spaces in the painting. And like a child, I have worked with wild abandon. My studio has become my retreat; it is the place I seek to find my own vision.
When I first came to the Lake Champlain Islands, I met Kay Webb whose work has inspired me to take up the study of watercolors. I have taken classes with Jeanne Carbonetti, Annelein Beukenkamp, and Katherine Montstream, all Vermont artists to whom I owe a debt for helping me to explore the artist within and loosening up my spirit as I approach my work.
